Sarah Burchard

Sarah Burchard

Sarah, A.K.A. The Healthy Locavore, is the resident chef, event coordinator and marketing maven for Yoga Unplugged. She’s cooked professionally for almost 20 years, is an advocate for family farms and embodies the phrase: support local. Her unwavering commitment to sourcing the highest quality ingredients, grown as nearby as possible, are only outshined by her attention to detail and dedication to providing an “under promise, overdeliver” approach to hospitality. Sarah’s respect for ingredients and the people who grow them, paired with her locavore sensibilities, inspires diners to connect with their community and environment. In addition to supporting small businesses and hosting farm-to-table events she’s also a writer and leads a regular farmers market tour in Kaka’ako to educate consumers about sustainable agriculture and the food security issues of Hawaii. Sarah started practicing yoga in 2011, after leaving a fruitful career in the San Francisco restaurant industry as a chef, to rejuvenate her body and create more balance in her life. Visit her blog The Healthy Locavore or find her on Instagram @healthylocavore & @yearofingredients to learn more about local food.

Brigitte Snyder

Brigitte's love of yoga began in 1990 after the blissful experience of her first savasana in a class taught by Brian Kent. Living in Los Angeles at the time, she was introduced to meditation in 1992 through the writings of Paramahansa Yoganada, and studied yoga with one of his devotees daily for over two years. She has done extensive training since then including studying with master teachers Mancuso Manos, Shiva Rea, Eric Shiffmann, Mary Dunn, Ramanan Patel, Rodney Yee and B.K.S. Iyengar. She has also completed two Anusara Immersion programs and is the co-owner of Aloha Yoga Kula in Kailua, Hawaii. Brigitte’s classes are a joyful journey. She mixes the fluidness and creativity of vinyasa with the precision and alignment of Iyengar. As a student you will feel her attention to you as an individual, offering manual adjustments that deepen the understanding of the poses and nurturing guidance that takes you into the infinite energies of the breath and body. Since 2002, Brigitte has shared her in-depth understanding and strong technique based awareness in workshops and teacher’s training programs. She is the director of Aloha Yoga Kula’s Teacher’s Training/Advanced Studies Program.

Jennifer Reuter

Jennifer discovered yoga in 1998, after receiving her first copy of the Bhagavad Gita, and has been passionately inquiring yogic philosophy ever since. She studies extensively with many different teachers finding great value in exploring every style yoga has to offer. For 10 years she formally studied deep tantric meditation and was initiated as an “acharya” and authorized teacher of Neelakantha Meditation by Blue Throat Yoga. She’s also a level 2 certified Irest yoga nidra teacher. Jennifer has been leading teacher trainings and advanced yogic studies since 2009. Jennifer is the founder of Yoga Unplugged, a platform that brings teachers and healers together to host events and trainings. She believes that collaborating enables her to offer a wider variety of philosophies, teaching styles and healing modalities to her students and envisions a day when Yoga Unplugged is a brand that doesn’t just belong to one person, but to many people spread across the world with the same core purpose.

Cecilia Ryan

Cecilia Ryan

Cecilia’s yoga journey began in the year 2000 in Hamburg, Germany, where she was a fitness and aerobic instructor. Her love for people and the desire to learn and share the ancient wisdom of yoga and its healing qualities, made the transition to teaching yoga feel natural. She completed her first teacher training in 2004 and began teaching in Germany and Portugal before moving to Hawaii. She completed her 200hr RYT and 500hr RYT under Mary Bastien and Jennifer Reuter, and is currently attending a 500hr Ayurveda healing course and massage therapy school. Cecilia also embraces a daily meditation practice taught to her by Dr.Paul Muller-Ortega. You can practice regularly with her at Open Space Yoga and Core Power Yoga on Oahu or at a Yoga Unplugged event or retreat.
